STLK Standard performance catalogue for hydraulic engineering

The STLK (standard performance catalogue) lists standardised data processing-compatible specifications of services that can be used to compile bills of quantities in hydraulic, road, bridges or any other type of civil engineering. It is issued by the Waterways and Shipping Department of the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development and produced and sold by the Federal Waterways Engineering and Research Institute (BAW).

You can find further information on the web portal of the Central Waterways Engineering Library (VZB):

PhD Theses

The qualification of junior researchers is an important element of the BAW's research and development activities. In particular, we support the possibility of doing a PhD while working. Below we publish PhD dissertations submitted by BAW staff.

An Isopycnal Numerical Model for the Simulation of Fluid Mud Dynamics Denise Wehr The progressive extension and development of coastal waterways has led to an increase in siltation and formation of fluid mud in sections of estuarine shipping channels, ports and port approaches over the past decades. The need for a better understanding and a profound knowledge of fluid mud dynamics has increased so that it is necessary to develop new maintenance strategies and renaturation measures in estuaries as well as optimize existing ones. Numerical simulations contribute to the evaluation of such strategies. For that reason, the aim of this thesis is to enable the numerical simulation of fluid mud dynamics.
