Working Together on the Future

Careers with the BAW

Actively shaping large-scale WSV infrastructure planning: that is what BAW employees do every day. They participate in a wide variety of consulting and research projects, and as sought-after experts in science and politics. Around 500 people from various disciplines work together at our locations in Karlsruhe and Hamburg. Their work covers research and development, hydraulic engineering, structural and geotechnical engineering, IT and administration. Our employees work across disciplines, focus on practical solutions and use state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure.

The BAW is the largest and leading consulting and research institution for waterways engineering in Germany. Our scientists and engineers develop concepts, methods and solutions to ensure that Germany's federal waterways in inland and coastal areas fulfil ever more stringent technical specifications, ecological requirements and traffic demands. Their work ranges from producing ever more reliable forecasts of the impact of climate change through to ensuring the environmental compatibility of the waterway and shipping transport system, and encouraging water-borne mobility and goods traffic, investment acceleration and digitalisation.

If that sounds interesting, then why not find out more about us? The BAW offers many qualified positions and attractive entry-level opportunities for school students, trainees, higher-education students, doctoral candidates and postdocs. By the way: if there is no suitable position now, speculative applications from committed and motivated candidates are always welcome! Please feel free to send your speculative application to karriere@baw.de.

In the BAWBlog, our employees talk about their day-to-day work.
