Professions with a future

We are not only interested in giving young scientists the best possible start and support in their careers. The BAW also offers attractive apprenticeship training for a promising professional future for young people who have a lower secondary school leaving certificate, intermediate secondary school leaving certificate or A-levels.

Lower secondary school certificate (m/f/d)

  • Construction materials tester for geotechnics (Karlsruhe)

Intermediate secondary school leaving certificate (m/f/d)

  • Construction materials tester for concrete technology (Karlsruhe)
  • Construction materials tester for geotechnics (Karlsruhe)
  • Chemical lab technician (Karlsruhe)
  • Equipment and systems electronic technician (Karlsruhe)
  • Specialist in media and information services (Karlsruhe)
  • IT specialist for system integration (Karlsruhe, Hamburg)

Vocational training takes 3 to 3.5 years, depending on the qualification and related training.

Combined dual study programmes

The BAW offers combined dual study programmes in Karlsruhe to students holding general university entrance qualifications. This study programme combines alternating theoretical and practical phases with students being paid a fixed income from the first semester onwards.

Our offer for Bachelor's degree programmes:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in ‘Information Technology’ (software and network technology) (BA)
  • Bachelor of Science in ‘Applied Computer Science’ (BA)
  • Bachelor of Science in ‘Computer Applications in Economics’ (BA)

School student placements

Are you interested in a scientific or technical profession? School students aged 14 and over have the opportunity to take part in a short internship that looks behind the scenes at the BAW and provides an insight into our work.
